Funeral services for Walter Hartog, 81, owner and operator of Hartog's bakery for 41 years, were held May 24 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert DeKock, William Hobstetter, L. W. Meyer, Elmer Brendes, DeLoss Smith and Ralph Nodurft. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Mrs. Ralph Nodurft and Mrs. L. W. Meyer were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Hartog died May 21 at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness.

The son of Gerrit and Louise Vetter Hartog, he was born Aug. 20, 1883 in Utrecht, Holland and was educated in the schools of Utrecht. He was married to Bessie Lock at Davenport Nov. 28, 1911.

A resident of Tipton for 41 years, he had operated Hartog's bakery continuously since coming to Tipton. He was a member of the Tipton Masonic lodge and the First Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Gerald, with whom he was associated in the bakery and 2 brothers and 2 sisters living in Holland.
