Atty. Lynch was born Dec. 4th, 1877 at Blairstown, Ia. and came to Stanwood, Cedar county, Ia. in 1897, later locating at Mechanicsville in 1901, and going to Cedar Rapids in 1922, where he associated in the law firm of Donnelly, Lynch, Lynch & Dallas (M.J. Donnelly, Mr. Lynch, C.J. Lynch, Jr., his son, and Wm. M. Dallas, a former Cedar county attorney). His wife, the former Eunice Wilson of Stanwood, died in December, 1943.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James W. McCutcheon of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Charles J. Jr., and Paul H. of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Mrs. Ralph S. Wilbur of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, Gen. George A. Lynch of Orlando, Fla., and A. C. Lynch of Decorah, Ia., also four grandchildren.

He attended Cornell college and the University of Iowa where he received his law degree in 1897. He then became principal of the Stanwood schools, and on Dec. 20, 1898, he was married there Eunice B. Wilson. In 1899 Mr. Lynch was admitted to the bar in Iowa. The following year he began practice of law in Tipton. In 1901 he moved to Mechanicsville where he continued law practice until 1922, and during that time he served one term as Cedar county attorney.

In 1922 Mr. Lynch went to Cedar Rapids as a member of a law firm made up of himself, M. J. Donnelly and E. A. Johnson.

Mr. Lynch and Mr. Donnelly later formed their own firm. In 1926 that firm was joined by Mr. Lynch's son, C. J. Lynch jr., and by F. L. Anderson, former district judge. Judge Anderson died in 1934. In 1946 William Dallas joined the law office and it then became the present firm of Donnelly, Lynch, Lynch and Dallas
