18 July 1902 - The Lowden News

Mrs. Carl Kranz died at her home, 3 miles east of town on July 11th, having been afflicted with an inward cancer. She died at the age of 63 years, 6 months and some days, and leaves her sorrowing husband and four sons, some of them with families, to mourn her demise.

Funeral occurred Sunday, with interment at the Massillon cemetery. The Lutheran minister from Lost Nation conducted the funeral services.

The long solemn line of march was about a mile in length. Over one hundred teams had brought friends and relatives, to show their last respect, and in the presence of death, condole with, and console the sorrow afflicted husband and children.

The members of the Lowden Kreiger-Verein with their families were well represented, the bereaved husband Mr. Carl Kranz, being a member of that society. Six comrades were selected pall bearers, namely, Earnest Brocking, Louis Strackbein, H. D. Edler, Wm. Boettger, Johann Daldorf and Henry Dickle. Many and beautiful were the floral offerings, among which the wreath brought by the old soldiers was especially attractive. We join the throng of friends extending sympathy.
