Mechanicsville - Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, for Earl Raymond Kiehl, a former business man of this community.

Rev. James Nelson conducted the service in the Methodist church at 2 p.m. with Masonic rites conducted by Patmos Lodge #155 AF and AM. Busch Dennis Legion Post 309 conducted Military services at the Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Kiehl died in Veterans hospital, Iowa City on June 8 following a long illness.

Earl Raymond Kiehl was born July 8, 1913 at Mobridge, South Dakota, the son of Raymond and Bessie Kink Kiehl. He attended grade school in Chadron, Nebr. and Spearfish, So. Dakota. He was a graduate of the Mechanicsville High school and attended the State University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Mr. Kiehl was married to Mildred Holsinger in Davenport on Nov. 5, 1949. He was inducted into the army on June 8, 1942 and discharged as a technical sergeant on Dec. 29, 1945, a veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Methodist church, Masonic Lodge, American Legion and the Veteran of Foreign wars Post #788.

Mr. Kiehl was a mechanic in his own garage for over 15 years, retiring three years ago last March due to illness.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; his mother, Mrs. Bessie Kiehl, Nampa, Idaho, a sister, Mrs. Helen Anderson, Lakeview, Oregon; an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kiehl; aunt, Mrs. John Eggert, Cedar Rapids and a cousin, Mrs. John Sauer.

His father died in 1941 and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Frank in 1957.

Pallbearers were John Mullan, Dale Warmuth, Ralph Yale, James Cruse, Robert Ross and James Miller. Interment was in Cedar Memorial cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Horners Funeral home was in charge of the services.

Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. Bessie Kiehl, Nampa, Idaho; Robert Kiehl, Lakeview, Oreg.; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Frank, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Gunn, Leawood, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Diserens, and Mr. and Mrs. John Eggert and Jane, all of Cedar Rapids.
