Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Fred Holsinger, 80, were held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Horner Funeral Home with Rev. James Nelson, officiating. Masonic service was by Patmos No. 155 Lodge. Mr. Holsinger died Nov. 30 at the Hallmark Nursing Home, Mt. Vernon, following a short illness.

Fred G. Holsinger was born near Marion on Aug. 12, 1887, the son of Jacob B. and Amanda Albaugh Holsinger. He was married on March 29, 1909 to J. Maude Comstock in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Holsinger was a member of Marion Masonic Lodge No. 6, AF and AM, a past grand officer of the Masonic Lodge of the State of Iowa, a member of the Eastern Star Marion Chapter No. 183 and the Methodist church.

He was retired in 1957 after 45 years of service as a passenger brakeman for the Milwaukee Railroad. Mr. Holsinger resided all his life in the Marion community until the death of his wife in 1958. He then moved to Mechanicsville and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Mildred Kiehl.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Mildred Kiehl, Mechanicsville, and Mrs. Robert Gunn, Leawood, Kan. and 2 grandchildren, Kathy and Douglas Gunn.

John Mullan, Robert Ross, Paul Thimmes, Walter Kiehl, Harold Streets and William Shrope were pallbearers. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
