Funeral services for Lee Pickert, 73, were held Dec. 26 at the Horner Funeral home in Mechanicsville with the Rev. Ralph Schenck officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery.

Pallbearers were William and Forrest Shrope, Howard Stork, Rudolph McNee, Everett Ferguson and William H. Larkin. Mrs. Elmer Littig was organist and Mrs. LeRoy Wendt was vocalist.

Mr. Pickert died at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids, Dec. 22, after a short illness.

The son of Frank and Margaret Rate Pickert, he was born in Pioneer township on Dec. 10, 1893. He lived his entire life on the farm where he was born, which his grandparents purchased in 1855 and for many years was actively engaged in the operation of the farm.

He was a member of the Cedar county and Iowa Historical societies.

He is survived by his wife, Alma; his sister, Mrs. Walter Jack, Lisbon; a nephew, Edward L. Jack, Mechanicsville; 2 nieces, Mrs. Helen Ryerson, Rock Island, Ill. and Mrs. Edith Yazel, Kansas City, Mo. and a step-daughter, Mrs. David Scott, Mt. Vernon.
