Mrs. John Gladfelter Summoned May 3

Mrs. Emmaline Gladfelter was born March 6, 1866, in York county, Penn., and passed away May 3, 1945, at the Murray Nursing Home in Tipton, Iowa.

Mrs. Gladfelter became ill about six weeks ago and gradually grew weaker until her death.

She was united in marriage to John Gladfelter April 9, 1887, in York, Penna. To this union were born three children: one son, Elmer S. Gladfelter, of Alvin, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Cora Mayer of Mountainview, Mo., and Mrs. Edith P. Richards of Tipton, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Gladfelter came to Iowa about 56 years ago and resided in Cedar Valley for a number of years, later moving to a farm about five miles southwest of Tipton. In January, 1938, they moved to Tipton, where they made their home the remainder of their days.

Mrs. Gladfelter was confirmed in the St. Peter's Reformed church in 1883 and remained true to this faith. She was also a member of the Mt. Zion Guild.

Those remaining to mourn her departure are two brothers, John Sheffer and Charles Sheffer, both of Seven Valley, Penna. Also besides the son and two daughters are 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, a number of nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends. Mr. Gladfelter preceded her in death May 17, 1940.

Final rites were held at the McCormick funeral home Sunday p.m. with the Rev. Roscoe Sires of the Tipton Methodist church in charge.
