Mary Elizabeth, better known to her playmates as Betty Gordie, only child of Samuel and Henrietta A. Gordon, was born in Tipton, Feb. 26, 1917, and she passed to the brighter land Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, 1924, age 7 years, 5 months and 17 days.

The past two years she attended the public school, where she rapidly advanced in her work. She was a member of Martha Jane McCormick's class in the Presbyterian Sunday school and found much delight in her association with her teacher and classmates.

Betty was a winsome child and appreciated the interest and affection which her parents and friends displayed for her. She looked out upon the world with a child's wondering eyes and eagerly sought to become acquainted with the mysteries that challenged her. Now for her the veil is lifted and she has gone to the realm where it is said, "We shall see fact to face, and shall know even as we also are known."
