Stanwood - Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hayden Funeral Home, Olin, for Carl M. Levsen, 80, who died Tuesday, Sept. 12, in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids. Rev. Lloyd Dutro will officiate.

Mr. Levsen was born April 11, 1887, the son of Hans and Anna Levsen, in Hale township Jones county. He was a well known farmer there all his life until his retirement to Stanwood several years ago.

Stanwood - Carl Martin Levsen, 80, the son of Hans and Anna Paulsen Levsen, was born in Hale township, Jones county on April 11, 1887 and died Sept. 12 at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a lengthy illness.

He grew up in the community where he was born, attending the rural school in the area.

May 26, 1915 he was united in marriage to Amanda Lorenzen. Five children, 2 daughters and 3 sons, were born to this union.

They continued to live on the family farm until 1948 when they moved to Stanwood to make their home. Although making their home in Stanwood, Mr. Levsen continued to take an active part in the operation of the family farm and other business interests until failing health forced him to retire in 1962.

In addition to his farming activities, Mr. Levsen was a charter member of the Citizen's Savings bank of Wyoming and served on the Board of Directors of the bank for 13 years.

Although his health began to fail in 1962 his condition began to be serious in 1964 and had become critical for the past several months.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, 4 brothers, a sister and an infant grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda, Stanwood; 2 daughters, Mrs. Hilda Goldsmith, Martelle and Mrs. Lois Ruther, Clarence and 3 sons, Louis H., Clarence; Max H., Stanwood and Edward L., Pomona, Calif. Fifteen grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A family prayer service was held at the Hayden Funeral home in Olin Sept. 15, followed by memorial services. The Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of the Olin E.U.B. church was in charge. Mrs. Galen Alexander, Wyoming was organist and Mrs. Hans Ahrendesen, Oxford Junction, soloist.

The flower committee from the E.U.B. church assisted with the floral tributes. Casket bearers were Leo Levsen, Paul Levsen, Forest Tubbs, James Irons, Arnold Freeman and Paul Gadke. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
