Stanwood Native Buried at Vinton

Vinton - Mrs. Valora C. Osberg, 55, died early Sunday in a Vinton hospital after a lingering illness. Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral home, Vinton, with interment in the Evergreen cemetery there.

Mrs. Osberg was born July 13, 1912 near Stanwood the daughter of John and Ella Brewer Whitmore. She graduated from Stanwood high school and from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught in Illinois for 10 years and married Martin C. Osberg, Nov. 5, 1943 at Davenport. The Osbergs had lived in Vinton since 1945 and Mrs. Osberg taught in the Vinton school system until 1958 when she retired because of illness.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Jeanne, Hollywood, Calif., her mother, Ella Whitmore, Belle Plaine; and a brother, James Whitmore, Olin. Her father preceded her in death.
