Last Rites Held For Charles H. West, 76

Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Charles H. West were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church with the Rev. James Nelson officiating. Mr. West died Sunday in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a 9-month illness.

Charles Henry West was born Aug. 14, 1891, the son of Eli Henry and Nancy Keith West in Mechanicsville. He was educated in the Mechanicsville school and on March 11, 1910, was married to Iva Mae Maurer at Tipton. Mr. West was a member of the Methodist church and the Modern Woodman of America. He was a lifetime resident of Mechanicsville and was a railroad employee.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Godfrey (Nona) Splichal, Cedar Rapids; a son, George Don West; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a brother, Roy West, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Onstott, Anamosa. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Clifford Rogers, Ronald Skow, Bill Hass Jr., Bill West, Darrell West and Keeran Knight were pallbearers. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery with Horner Funeral service in charge.
