Mrs. Rosie Portewig Interred August 7

Stanwood - Last rites for Mrs. Rosie Portewig were held Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran church. The Rev. R. M. Muhl officiated. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery.

Rosine Barbara Von Behren Portewig, the daughter of John and Caroline Lehrman Von Behren was born Sept. 30, 1881 in the Stanwood community. She was married to Louis Portewig Feb. 11, 1904. To this marriage there was born four sons and one daughter. Mrs. Portewig was a lifelong resident of the Stanwood community.

The last 6 weeks of her life she was a resident of Cedar Manor, Tipton, previously being at the Rice Nursing home.

Preceding her in death were her parents, 9 brothers and sisters, her husband, one daughter, two sons and two grandchildren.

She is survived by 2 sons, Paul, Stanwood, and Ernest of Monticello; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Dick (Ida) Gallmeyer of Stanwood.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. Julius Koch, Waukegan, Ill.; Alma Rix and Mrs. Lillian Travis, Chicago, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Roth, Laurie and Randy, Elkgrove Village, Ill.
