DORCAS - At his home in Red Oak township, on Thursday, June 1st, 1882, of Bright's disease, Mr. Jesse Dorcas, aged sixty-two years and eleven months.

Deceased was a native of York county, Penna. He became a resident of Iowa, and Cedar county, in the fall of 1858, and has since lived in this community, winning a comfortable competence by industry and thrift. Mr. Dorcas early embraced the faith of the Seventh Day Adventists, and was an earnest and enthusiastic believer, losing no opportunity to promulgate and defend the peculiar tenets involved. He was a man of much energy and strength of character, a good citizen and a respected friend.
