Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Zion United Church of Christ for Julius Meier, 77. The Rev Paul Jordan officiated. Burial was in Van Horne cemetery south of Lowden. Mrs Walter Helmold was organist and hymns were sung by the Muhs Bros.

Serving as pallbearers were Lewis Strackbein, Melvin Meier, Edwin Gehrls, Milton Behrens, Gilbert Behrens and Allen Behrens. Mrs Strackbein and Mrs Milton Behrens were in charge of flowers.

Mr Meier died Saturday January 4 in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Mr Meier was born Feb. 27, 1897 in Lowden where he was a lifelong resident. He married Maye Behrens Dec. 8, 1940. He was a member of Zion church. He was a former gas station operator here.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs Kenneth Brendes, Cedar Rapids, and three grandsons.
