Apoplexy Fatal to M. G Whitmer – Services for Cedar County Man Will Take Place Sunday Afternoon. (Journal News Service) Wilton – Moses G. Whitmer, 65, a life-long resident of Cedar County, died suddenly at his home seven miles northeast of Wilton at noon, Friday as the result of apoplexy. He had been in his usual health before the attack.

Moses Garber Whitmer was born the son of Peter and Mary Whitmer, early Cedar county settlers, in Sugar Creek township, Sept. 17, 1868 where he grew to manhood an later engaged in farming.

He was married to Catherine E. Wagner, Aug. 26, 1888.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons , Cyril E. and Howard H., both of Cedar county; one daughter and Mrs. Hazel R. Schneider of Muscatine county; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Ford of Cedar county; Mrs. Ella Parks of Dinuba, Calif.; Mrs. Lucy Laucamp of Indiana; two brothers,; J.P. Whitmer of Muscatine and Max Whitmer of California; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home with the Rev. Otis Moore of the South Bethel Methodist Episcopal church in charge. Burial will be made in the Whitmer cemetery.
