Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Dircks, 79, a lifetime resident of Lowden, were held at Zion United Church of Christ May 17 with the Rev. Paul Jordan officiating. Burial was in the Van Horne cemetery.

Pallbearers were Earl Kross, Carl Deichmann, Gerhard and Arthur Licht, John Burhop and Lester Timm. Mrs. Harold Horman and Mrs. Marvin Muesing were in charge of flowers. Music was by the Muhs Brothers with Mrs. Don Breneman as organist.

The daughter of William and Sophhia Butterbrodt Harttman, she was born at Lowden April 9, 1896. She was married to Carl *** 1915.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Burdette Fankhauser, Lisbon and Mrs. Walter Lafrenz, Lowden, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
