Mrs. Ingwer J. Christophersen nee Meta Baguss was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, on September 17, 1896 and departed this life on December 6, 1950 after a brief but serious illness. She reached the age of 54 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Mrs. Christophersen was baptized in 1896 and confirmed in the St. Juergens Evangelical Lutheran Church of Flensburg, Germany, on March 26, 1911.
At the age of 15, she with her parents left their homeland to come to America. Here she grew to young womanhood in the Wyoming community and on February 18, 1920, she was married to Ingwer Christophersen in Wyoming, Iowa. The became the parents of three children.
Mrs. Christophersen has always been a very active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the Women's Guild of St. John's Church. Her home and her family however were her primary consideration.
She leaves to mourn her untimely departure: her bereaved husband Ingwer; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Thies of Clarence; 2 sons, Alfred of Oxford Junction and John at home; 2 grandchildren Michael and Kevin Thies; 4 brothers: John Baguss of Tipton; Anton Baguss of Wyoming; Ferdinand Baguss of Maquoketa and Herman Baguss of Cedar Rapids, also an aunt, Mrs. Boyd Feddersen, and many other more distant relatives and a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held from Chapman Funeral Home and St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church Saturday, December 9, 1950, conducted by Rev. F. J. Mittler. Music was furnished by a Ladies quartet accompanied by Eleanor Conrad. In charge of the many beautiful floral pieces were Mrs. J. E. Shriver, Mrs. Lorenz Hansen and Ms. John Hasenbank. Pallbearers were Arnold Pruess, John Hasenbank, Lee Freeman, Lorenz Hansen, J. E. Shriver and Elwood Kirkpatrick. Interment was made in the Clarence cemetery.
