21 January 1943 - The Clarence Sun

John Budelier, while engaged in felling trees with Harry Gay south of Tipton last Friday, moved to get out of the way of a tree that was coming down but slipped on the insecure footing and fell in the way and the tree crushed him. The accident happened about noon. The men with him were able to release him by the time help arrived, but he did not survive long.

This happening has brought sorrow to everyone to whom John Budelier was known, and that means every individual in his home community. He was a friend to every acquaintance and his friendship was a source of enjoyment to all. The community has lost a reliable and steadfast citizen and all join those closer to him in mourning his untimely death.

February 5th, 1936, he and Miss Anna E. Lyle were married and established their home in Clarence.

He became a member of the Methodist church in 1920 under the pastorate of the Reverend S. S. Smith, and served on the official board for several years, four of them as treasurer.
