9 September 1943 - The Clarence Sun
Mildred Norine Bixler, daughter of Andrew J. and Susan E. Bixler, was born in Dayton township December 22, 1876, and died August 22, 1943, at the age of 66 years and 8 months.
She grew to womanhood in the Clarence vicinity, attended the Clarence schools. At the age of 18 she became a member of the Presbyterian church and remained an earnest Christian all her life.
April 20, 1897, she was married to Arthur Elijah. Three children were born to them: Lester, who preceded her in death in 1926; Mrs. Gertrude Sinnett of Everett, Wash., and Mrs. Ethelyn Maxson of Amity, Oregon.
Besides her husband, two daughters and six grandchildren, she leaves two brothers and three sisters: Earl Bixler and Mrs. Audrey McCormick of Olin, Mrs. Bertha Evers of Stanwood, and Floyd Bixler and Mrs. Myrtle Sylvester of Clarence. Also several nephews and nieces.
Her illness was of only two hours duration and she passed quietly away, being conscious up to within ten minutes of her death.
Her whole life was characterized by her unselfish devotion to others, and service in their behalf.
Her family, and all who knew her, feel deeply the shock of her sudden passing away.
Funeral services and burial were at Mt. Vernon, Wash., Wednesday afternoon, August 25.
Until we meet again before His throne
Clothed in the spotless robe He gives His own,
Until we know even as we are known, Good-night.
