Maria Catherina Boettger, nee Bargmann, was born in Ahrensburg, Holstein, Germany, April 2, 1844, and died Tuesday, May 27, 1913, at 10:25 p.m. after a lingering illness of several years at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 25 days. She came to this country in October, 1870, and was married here in Lowden to Henry Boettger the 23rd day of the same month. After their marriage they moved to Toronto and stayed there for a number of years, and from there they moved to Wheatland and lived there for a short time after which they came back to Lowden and have resided here for 30 years. To this union were born two sons and three daughters, Chas. C. and Mrs. Emil Schneider of this place; Henry, of Maurice; Mrs. L. D. Curttright, of Clinton, and Mrs. H. M. Barnes, of Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Boettger submitted to an operation in 1907 and has been in ill health up to the time of her death. Her remains will be interred this afternoon in the Lowden cemetery by the side of her husband who died in 1908.

Mrs. Boettger was a kind and loving mother and bore the distinction of being a lady who attended strictly to her family duties and had the respect of all who knew her.

Besides her sons and daughters she leaves to mourn her death two brothers and two sisters in Germany, and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at two o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emil Schneider, and at the Evangelical church at about 2:30, Rev. Werning officiating. The pall bearers will be K. Pauls, J. H. Lunow, John Gehrls, Henry Von Roden, F. Kampmann, C. G. Muesing.
