April 1951 for Mrs Nancy BarnesFuneral Services for Mrs. Wm. Barnes
Services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sheets Funeral Home in Tipton, with Rev. Leo Wolfe of the First Methodist Church in charge, for Mrs William Barnes, age 75, who passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 1951, at 8:15 at her home in Tipton after six months illness. Pallbearers were Walter Ahrens, Orin Skinner, Dale Ershman, Loren Carlisle, Millard Gillium and Wilfred Braurer.
Mrs Deloris Ershman and Mrs Elsie Ahrens cared for the flowers.
Nancy Maria Barnes, the oldest daughter of Sarah Peden and William J. Comstock , was born March 1, 1876 at Rocheser, Iowa in Cedar County. Her marriage to William Barnes of Ayersville took place September 19, 1895 at Tipton. They lived at Stanwood till 1910 and then moved to Tipton where they have resided ever since. She is survived by her husband and ten children: Mrs Helen Ackey of Venezuela, South America; Mrs Viola Curtis of Cedar Rapids; Harry Barnes, Ames, Iowa; Frank Barnes, Salt Lake City, Utah; Daniel Barnes, Urbana, Iowa; James Barnes, West Hartford, Conn.; Elmer and Clarence Barnes,Stanwood, Iowa; Earl Barnes, Cedar Rapids; and Thomas Barnes, Tipton. One sister, Mrs May House of Wilton Jct. 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Gertrude Kempe,Red Oak; and Sade Stanton of Sedalia, Missouri; also two brothers, Matthew Comstock of Moscow, Iowa and Frank Comstock of Waterville,Minnesota.
Interment was in Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa
