Donald Anderson, 86, Jamestown, Calif.

Donald Merle “Don A.” Anderson, 86, of Jamestown, Calif., and formerly of West Branch, Iowa, died unexpectedly May 15, 2009, at a Walnut Creek, Calif., hospital.

He died seven weeks after the death of his wife of 56 years.

He wa born in West Branch, Iowa, on July 1, 1922, to Alfred Anderson and Alma West Anderson. He was raised by Edith Phelps Stotler when his mother died and his father remarried. Don A. graduated from the West Branch Schools with the Class of 1940.

In the early 1950s, he moved to California, where he met and married Cornelia Sue Langford on Aug. 22, 1953. Twenty-six years ago they moved to Tuolumne County, Calif., when he retired from Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, Calif., where he was a certified public accountant.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and American Cribbage Congress.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Donna and Tom Read of Discovery Bay, Calif., four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held June 13 at the Mill Villa Estates clubhouse in Jamestown.
