MARCH 4, 1899

One of the prettiest "at homes" of the season was that given by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lovell, Tuesday, Feb. 28, occasioned by the marriage of their daughter, Alice to Mr. John Hoy, at high noon.
Promptly at 12 o’clock the wedding march was played by C. A. Sheets while the contracting parties marched to the parlor where Rev. C. K. Hudson, of Stanwood, with an eloquent, yet solemn, ceremony spoke the words, which united the happy couple in the holy bonds of matrimony. They were attended by Miss Sadie Hoy, sister of the groom, acting as bridesmaid, and Mr. Andy Graham, groomsman.
The bride was dressed in a garment of novelty goods, trimmed in green silk and white chiffon, and carried carnation pinks. She was one of our best young ladies and always ready to render assistance.
The groom was dressed in the usual black and wore a bouquet of carnations. He is possessed of manly traits—is a good citizen and a prosperous farmer—and is worthy of the heart he has won.
The guests, numbering 53, were then invited to the dining room where a bountiful wedding dinner was spread, prepared by the skillful hand of Mrs. Lovell. The table decorations consisted of white and pink carnations. Delicious refreshments were served in several courses. After dinner, time was spent in music and merry-making.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoy were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents as souvenirs of the eventful occasion.
The presents as presented were as follows:
One set silver knives and forks, Mr. F. K. Wallick and Mrs., Emma Marker; set silver tea spoons, Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Nash; silver sugar spoon and butter knife, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mason; silver sugar spoon, Miss Paulina Lunschen; bed spread and shelled anchor, Mrs. Ella and F. G. Cripliver; paper holder, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Little; tea pot, Mrs.Stoltenberg; china fruit dish Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Pruyn; sewing chair, Mrs. F. M. and Katie Long; clock, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Woods and Hattie Stotler: colored berry set, Miss Lucinda Armstrong; paper receiver. Mrs. J. H. and C. A. Sheets; pair toilet towels, Miss Dora Ford; parlor rocker, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Reeder; lamp, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lunschen; parlor lamp, Mrs. Maurer and Miss Grace Hoon; glass fruit dish, Mr. Andy Graham; glass pickle dish, Miss Sadie Hoy: bureau, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lovell.
After wishing the happy couple health, wealth and happiness the guests repaired to their respective homes, which time came only to soon. C. A. S.
