Western Democrat, Andrew, Iowa, August 23, 1850.
Result of the election.
Enough is now known to place the result beyond a question. The Democratic state ticket is elected by a majority of about eighteen hundred or two thousand. Judge Clark’s majority in the 2d District, is about 1100, while Mr. Henn’s majority in the 1st District is about 150 or 200.
But not only the Democracy of the State congratulate themselves on the general result, but more than twenty of the thirty odd counties, may hail each other as bright sister stars in the democratic constellation. To the Democracy of the Union we can reach forth the hand of democratic fellowship and say to them, doubt no more, if you ever doubted the sentiments of the people of Iowa. Hereafter she will stand as one of the pillars of the democratic temple, and the enemies of democracy must crush her;-they cannot drive her from her post.
