Atlantic Times, Tuesday, July 12, 1988:

Paul Kenneth Bailey, 82, resident of Highland Addition, Atlantic, died June 22 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held June 25 at the Roland Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Smith of Atlantic officiating. Burial was in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Paul Kenneth Bailey, son of John S. and Mary Louise Clements Bailey, was born Feb. 17, 1906 at Atlantic and attended the Atlantic School system.

He married Opal Mae Sharp on Nov. 7, 1925 at Atlantic and lived most of his life in Atlantic with the exception of fourteen years that he traveled, while working for Winger Construction Co. of Ottumwa. He was a painter for 68 years and had not retired.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #3763.

He is survived by two sons, John 'Jack" Bailey and his wife, Jane and Donald Bailey and his wife, Carol, all of Bellevue, NE; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Bailey and wife, Kathe, Bill Bailey and wife, Jane, Bob Petersen and wife, Pam, and Mark Bailey and wife, Shirley, all of Bellevue, NE, Lisa Sullivan and husband, Dennis of Omaha, NE and Laurie Berns and husband, David of Atlantic; 19 great-grandchildren a brother, Ralph Bailey and wife, Jane of Bend, OR.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal; two brother(s), Elwin 'Butch' Bailey and Merrit Bailey; and a grandaughter, Jean Marie Creekmur.
