VIOLA G. LOFGREN
Viola G. Lofgren, 78, resident of 1007 E. 8th Street, Atlantic, died July 4 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held July 8 at the Zion Lutheran Church with retired minister R. G. Dohrmann of Atlantic and seminarian William Dubberke, Vicar officiating. Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery south of Wiota.
Viola G. Lofgren, daughter of William F. and Marie M. Duden Sandhorst, was born Feb. 12, 1910 on a farm south of Wiota. She graduated from Wiota High School in 1929 and the Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1932.
She lived in Atlantic until 1940 and married Eric M. Lofgren on Sept. 3, 1940 at the home of her parents south of Wiota.
They lived in Des Moines where she was employed for thirty years as a registered nurse with her last employer being Wesley Acres in Des Moines. She retired in 1973 and moved back to Atlantic.
She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church in Atlantic, Iowa, Lutheran Alumni Association and Lutheran Women's Missionary Association.
She is survived by two daughter(s), Charlotte M. Palmer and her husband, Richard of Norfolk, VA and Ramona R. Jones and her husband, Robert W., of San Antonio, TX; a grandson, Eric Palmer of Norfolk, Va; five nieces and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eric and two brothers, Harold Sandhorst and Ralph Sandhorst.
