Conduct Services For Lewis Man
The funeral service for Roy Calvin Garrison, 67, of Lewis was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mel Ammon of the Lewis Congregational Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis.
Mr. Garrison, a former truck driver and farm worker, died Friday at the Atlantic Care Center. He was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Lucas County and attended school in Chariton.
He lived most of his life in Iowa and drove a truck for Buckingham Vans and for 10 years was employed at the Walnut Grove Research Farm until retiring June 10, 1978. He also worked at the Lamp Lady's Shop in Lewis and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Roland Garrison and his wife, Fay, of Des Moines; a graddaughter, Julie Garrison of Des Moines; and his companion, Mary Ellen Formhals. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Randall Breckerbaumer sang "Known Only to Him" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord." Mrs. Randall Breckerbaumer was organist. Casket bearers were Wilbur Marxen, Wayne Livingston, Denny Briles, Gary Hulsebus, Ronald Weirich and Doug Cavin. Honorary bearers were Bob Swanson and Byron King.
