TUKWILA, WA--Maurice Justus Boseck, 93, Yakima, died Friday, January 7, 2005 at Regional Hospital in Tukwila, Washington.

He was born in Griswold, Iowa on November 30, 1911 to Christian R. Boseck and Martha (Hampel) Boseck. After graduating from high school in Iowa in 1929, he farmed and worked in the area until 1937, then he moved to Yakima to work on a ranch until 1939, when he began working for Lindeman Power Equipment Company. There he first saw a portable hop picking machine in 1941 and helped build the machines. This led him to work at Moxee City Warehouse Machine Shop in 1953. In July 1971 he purchased the shop and changed the name to East Valley Machine Shop where he continued working with the hop picker and other agricultural machines. He worked there until a car accident on October 28, 2004, eventually resulting in his death due to multiple injuries.

He had a love for sports. From 1941 to 1943, he was manager and first baseman for Yakima leagues softball and baseball winning teams-Lindeman.

He began serving in Boy Scouts of America so eldest son, Mike, could become a cub scout in 1955, and continued for fifteen years, serving as Scout Master for the last several years.

He is a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. With his wife, Mary, he attended the First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Boseck of Yakima; his children and spouses: Mike and Marian Boseck of Yakima, Tim and Sheryl Boseck of Moxee, Peggy and Franz Fischer of Yakima, Pat and Bob Smith of Victorville, CA; grandsons, Dusty and Brandon Boseck of Yakima: step-daughters Arlene Limon and Marilyn and Bob Buell of Henderson, NV; step grandchildren, Laurel and Tim Warren, Kari Lynn and Mike Cunningham both of Spokane, WA, Jeylene Limon of CA, Lisa and Matt Ralston of Tacoma, WA; step-great-grandchildren Madeline and Jacob Cunningham and Jack Warren; sisters, Fern Behrends and Zoe Kay of Atlantic, IA, Faye Ihnen of Wiota, IA, Yvonne Krehbiel of Hutchinson, KS and Evelyn Brown of Manhattan, KS.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, sisters, Loine Russell and JoAnne Moll and brother, Ross Boseck, and his first wife of 29 years, Lorraine Boseck who died of cancer in 1972.

Funeral sevices will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Kieth and Kieth Terrace Heights Chapel...Private internment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
