LOCAL LADY, CASS RESIDENT FOR 75 YEARS, DIES HERE

Mrs. Hannah Johnson, One of the Longest Residents, Dies Today. Another Pioneer Dead.

Two Cass county pioneers, one of whom, Mrs. Hannah Adsit Johnson, has lived in this county for nearly 70 years, died here during the last twenty-four hours. Mrs. Johnson passed away at the Atlantic hospital at 5:40 this morning after a lingering illness, and Mrs. Catherine Campbell, widow of the late Adam R. Campbell, died at her home in Grove City near here, at 12:15 yesterday afternoon, death resulting from a stroke suffered Wednesday.

Mrs. Johnson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Goodale, was born Dec.16, 1839, at Fort Wayne, Ind., and came with her parents to Cass county when 12 years old and has since made her home here. She was united in marriage to H. C. Johnson June 30, 1801, at Lewis, where they lived until moving to Atlantic in 1869. Mr. Johnson, who passed away fourteen years ago, was formerly publisher of the Atlantic Messenger and a well known man. Mrs. Johnson was 86 years, nine months and 11 days old at the time of her death.

Eight children, Mrs. O. M. Hobart of this city, with whom deceased made her home, Mrs. O. D. Hill of Long Beach, Calif., E. W. Johnson of Iowa City, Sam Johnson of Atlantis [Atlantic], Mrs. O. Woolsey of Atlantic, Mrs. H. V. Leach of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. William Rupp of Atlantic and C. J. Johnson of Chicago survive. Six children are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church, the Rev. M. A. Gable officiating, and interment will be made in the Atlantic cemetery.
