Saturday Rites for Jessie R. Acker, 87

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie R. Acker, 87, wife of Arliegh [Arleigh] Acker of Wiota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Roland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Loyd Johnson of the First United Methodist Church of Anita officiating. Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis.

She died early Thursday morning at the Exira Care Center, where she had lived for the last five years. The daughter of William F. and Sarah Virginia Collins Berry, she was born Nov. 12, 1892, northwest of Atlantic and was reared in the Lewis area, attending rural schools.

She was married to Charles Wissler Feb. 19, 1913, at Lewis and he died in 1955. She then married Earl Kennedy in 1956 and later married Mr. Acker in June 1964. She was a member of the Wiota Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Myrrie) Thompson of Huron, S.D.; three granddaughters, Mrs. Bill (Audrey) Oligmueller of St. Lawrence, S. D.; Kaye Engebretson of Huron, S.D., and Janiece Thompson of Minneapolis, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mardell Hancock of Indianola; seven great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Bennett of Oakland; a brother, Harry Berry of Lewis; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands; her parents; a brother, Frank Berry; two sisters, Marie Smith and Margaret Geesaman.

The family will meet relatives and friends from 7-7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
