OLD TIME CITY MARSHAL ATLANTIC DIES YESTERDAY

W. C. Terbush, for Fourteen Years Marshal Here and Fifty-three Years a Resident of County, Dies.

William C. Terbush, who for 14 years in the nineties and the early years of the present century, served as city marshal of Atlantic and a man widely known in the county where he had lived for 53 years, died at 4:30 yesterday afternoon at his home, 1104 Poplar street, death being the result of the breaking up incident to age and coming after an illness of long duration. He was in his eighty-forth year at the time of his death.

Born in New York State.

Mr. Terbush was born in New York state on the 25th of August, 1839, and when he was 18 years of age moved to Galesburg, Ill. Fifty-three years ago he located south of Wiota and lived there until he came to this city forty years ago. His wife died in September of 1918 and the most of the time since he has lived at his home with William Hendee, who was employed to take care of him.

Four Children Died.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Terbush, all of whom are deceased. Two of them, Sadie and Roland, died in infancy,[.] Mrs. Chas. Hutchins, a daughter, died many years ago and Mrs. Thomas Malone of Wiota, died a few years ago. One son, Ernest E. Terbush, of Chicago, survives. There are also two grandsons and one granddaughter. The grandsons are George E. Terbush of Cincinatti, [Cincinnati] Ohio, and Major Clyde Malone of the U. S. army, at Honlulu [Honolulu]. The son from Chicago is here and his wife will arrive in the city this evening.

Funeral Tomorrow.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the late home, 1104 Poplar street, and interment will be made in the Atlantic cemetery. Deceased was a member of the I. O. O. F. and the local lodge of that order will attend the services.
