Daughter of First Mayor.

Mrs. Clayton was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Hawks, one of Atlantic's earliest families, and he the first mayor of this city. She was a niece of Mrs. C. B. Osborne, who was a sister of Mr. Hawks. She was also a sister of Ralph Hawks, who died in Audubon a few months ago, and of the late Harley Hawks. In 1892 she was an employe [sic] of the postoffice when the senior member of the News-Telegraph firm was postmaster. Shortly afterward she was married to Eli Clayton and moved away from Atlantic, returning a few years ago for a short time after an absence of many years, but remaining only a short time.

The deceased lady leaves three daughters, two living in Tulsa and one in Perry, this state. They will attend the funeral services here, the Tulsa daughters accompanying the remains of their mother here.
