MOTHER OF LOCAL WOMAN DIES HERE AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Unice Jan Scarlett, mother of Mrs. M. E. Lines, died last night at 9:30 at the Lines home, 703 West Sixth street, following an illness of eight weeks.

Mrs. Scarlett came here from Creston ten weeks ago to make her home with her daughter.

She was born in Harrison county, Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Parker. She was married there to Richard Scarlett, who died forty-five years ago. Mrs. Scarlett moved to Creston forty years ago and had lived there until moving here recently.

She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Lines, of this city; four brothers, Levi and Sam Scarlett of Bethany, Mo., and Charles and Reuben Scarlett, of Larned, Kans. and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Kelso of Comby, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Osbourne-Thomlinson home, the Rev. J. E. Bruner officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery.
