Anna Amelia Miller was born in Schonlake, Posen, Germany, March 17th, 1857, and passed away at her home in Anita, Cass county, Iowa, November 27th, 1918, at the age of 59 years, 8 months, and 10 days.
In early life she was converted, and united with the German Lutheran church, of which she has been a faithful and devoted member. At the age of seventeen years, she came to America, locating at Hastings, Iowa, where she made her home with relatives. During the year 1880, she was united in marriage to August C. Pieper, of Imogene, Iowa, where they lived until 1895, then moving to their farm in Audubon county, residing there until the spring of 1909, when they purchased residence property and moved to Anita, which place has since been her home. to this happy union was born nine children: five daughters and four sons, two of whom, Willie and Emil, have proceeded her to the better land. She leaves to mourn her death, the husband, five daughters and two sons; Mrs. Minnie White of Menlo, Iowa; Mrs. Bertha McDonough, of Lacey, Iowa; Mrs. Anna White, Misses Lena and Edna Pieper, Fred and Louie Pieper, all of Anita. Also two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Minnie Schultze, of Fisher, Arkansas; Mrs. Mollie Bohning, of Anita, and Emil Miller, of Lorimer, Iowa, all of whom were with her when she sweetly passed away. There are other relatives, including ten grandchildren, by whom she will be greatly missed.
Mother Pieper was a kind, loving wife and mother, of affectionate disposition, a good neighbor and true friend, loved by all who knew her. Sweetly sleep! May softest airs caress thee; Be thy dreaming calm and bright. Loving Angles guard and bless thee--Dear one, best beloved---Good-night.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, November 29th, 1916 at 2:30pm at the M.F. church in Anita, Iowa, by the pastor Rev. Robert W. Swick; internment taking place in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives in attendance at the funeral services for the late Mrs. August Pieper were; Huge (or Hugo) and Anton Pontow (Ponlow), Mrs. Seipold and Miss Bertha Zanders, of Malvern, Iowa, and Mrs. Lena Smith, of Shenandoah, Iowa.
