Geo. W. Johnson was born at Shelbyville, Missouri, January 6th, 1877, and died July 29th, 1911, at the hospital in Atlantic from adhession [sic] and tuberculosis of the bowels from which he has suffered severely for many months. On April 14th, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Loren [sic] Thomas. To this union was born one child, a son, too young to realize his severe loss. Besides his child his wife and two brothers survive him.

Mr. Johnson was an honest and industrious man and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a very patient sufferer, never complaining in the least but bore his suffering, which was very severe, heroically. He was a very kind and devoted husband. The funeral services were held at 10:30 Monday, at the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, conducted by Rev. McNoll, after which the remains were shipped to Anita where the I. O. O. F. lodge, of which the deceased was an honored and faithful member, performed the ritualistic ceremony and tenderly laid him to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery.
