Obit for William Wallace Friday Oct 6 1882 in the Atlantic News Telegraph:
Another Patriarch Gone
William Wallace, Aged 83 years, died at Marne, Cass County, Iowa, yesterday, Oct 5. The deceased was the father of our popular county clerk, Thomas R Wallace, Esq. His other children are Alexander, William and Henry and Mrs. Z Hunt. He was born near Belfast in Ireland, and became a citizen of the United States prior to 1844. He lived a number of years in Philadelphia, also in Illinois, coming to Cass County, Iowa, about 13 years ago. He was during his whole life a consistent professor of religion; a man of kindly nature, noble and generous impulses and totally unselfish. His best efforts and energies were always directed toward the happiness of others. Blessed in years beyond his fellow-men, he has finally passed to his reward at the close of a well-spent life. His example will remain, and his memory will be cherished as that of a just and noble man. The funeral will be held tomorrow at Marne, at 10 o'clock am. Rev John Herron, at this city, will preach the sermon.
