Well Known Lady Dies at Home of her Parents

Those who knew her were shocked to learn of the death, at four o’clock this morning, at the home of her parents, C. B. Lewis and wife, four miles southeast of the city, of Mrs. Geneva Welton, wife of Roy Welton, former local banker, who passed away after a four weeks’ illness with heart trouble. Mrs. Welton was in her forty-first year.
Deceased was born north of Walnut on the 26th of December 1884, and on the 12th of July 1907 at the home of her parents in Franklin township, was married to Mr. Welton. They made their home at Adair nine years, at Des Moines six years and for the past three years had lived in this city. The family home was at 811 East Sixth st. Mrs. Welton was active in the affairs of the local M. E. church, of which she was a member, the St. Cecilian club and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She leaves her husband and one son, Claude, her father and mother, a sister, Mrs. Norma B. Williams, Detroit, MI., and two brothers, Lloyd E. Lewis, Fremont, NE., and Ross Lewis, Fergus Falls, MN.
Mrs. Welton was a much respected lady and her death is widely mourned. Deceased’s husband, Roy Welton, who has been in Florida, was called home on account of the illness of his wife.
No funeral announcement is yet made.
