Former Exira Man
And Daughter Injured

--------

George C. Voss of Atlantic and
his daughter, Georgia, 4, were slight-
ly injured last Wednesday evening
when the Voss automobile took a
driverless trip from in front of their
home to a point a block distant,
where it crashed into a tree.

Mr. Voss received two badly
skinned knees, a fractured rib and
bruises and his daughter a painfully
bruised heel when one of the car
doors slammed shut on it.

The accident happened just after
the family had returned from a trip
to the business section. Mr. and
Mrs. Voss had gone to the house to
carry in some groceries and had left
the small daughter in the car alone.
The little girl climbed into the
front seat and released the brake
and the car started on its wild run
down the hill. Hearing the child's
screams, Mr. Voss raced for the car
in an effort to stop it, but as he
stepped onto the running board, he
slipped and fell to the pavement but
managed to hang onto the steering
wheel and swerve the machine
across the street where it crashed
into a tree.

The car was badly damaged, but
so long as no serious injury result-
ed to his daughter nor to himself,
Mr. Voss considers the affair ended
luckily.
