Secret Marriage Of
Exira Girl Announced

--------

The secret marriage of Miss
Ethel Hansen, daughter or Mr.
and Mrs. Hans C. Hansen of Exira,
to Ralph Baker, son of Mr. and
Mrs. H. M. Baker of Atlantic, was
announced to 30 friends at a mis-
cellaneous shower held for Mrs.
Baker on Wednesday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. Ed Beekman in
Atlantic.

A color scheme of pink and
white was carried out in the home
and table decorations. Bouquets
of sweet peas and candles formed
the centerpieces at the prettily ap-
pointed tables. Announcements of
the marriage, which took place at
Kansas City, Kan., on Oct. 7,
1935, were hidden in tiny bou-
quets of sweet peas which were
used as favors.

Petite Patricia Sheppard, 2-
year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Sheppard, a cousin of the
groom, presented a card to Mrs.
Baker. Fastened to the card was
a string which led the bride to the
hiding place of two large boxes
of beautiful and useful gifts. The
boxes were decorated in Colonial
Bread company wrappers. The
groom, a graduate of Atlantic high
school, is now employed by the
Colonial concern. Following a
social afternoon a two-course lun-
cheon was served.

The newlyweds plan to make
their home in Atlantic. Mrs. Baker
is a graduate of Exira high school.
