Herman Knute Killed
Sergeant Herman Knute, of Glidden, was killed in action in France very recently, according to advices received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Knute, early this week. Sergeant Knute was one of the eight boys who left Glidden as volunteers early in the war -- the original Merle Hay contingent.
Of this band of eight boys, he is the third to be killed in action, and it is believed that every one of the other five has been either wounded or gassed. One of them is known to have been in the hospital three times since the boys got into action.
