Mass of the Christian burial for William E. "Bill" Bernholtz of Carroll will be at 10a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Mr. Bernholtz, 56, of 521 Granada Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at his home. The Rev. Laurence Burns will preside at the Mass. Servers will be Lee and Nathan Siegner. Gift bearers will be Mr. Bernholtz's grandchildren: Chad Wiebers, Jenna Wiebers and Brianna Pickett. Lector will be Dan Eischeid. Casket bearers will be David Eischeid, Wayne Willenborg, Wesley Willenborg, Tim Bernholtz, John Pryor and Donald Bernholtz Jr. Honorary casket bearers will be Doug Eischeid, Duane Eischeid, Dennis Eischeid, John Schmitz, Randy Schmitz, Stanley Schmitz, Ray Schmitz, Rod Guarniere, Mike Berholtz and San Eischeid. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Friends will call after 2:30 and a rosary will be conducted at 3 Friday afternoon at the funeral home. There will also be a vigil service at 7:30 Friday night at the funeral home.

A son of Alois and Hilaria (Thelen) Bernholtz, he was born June 25, 1943, at Carroll and was a lifelong resident of the community. He was educated at St Mary Grade School in Willey and Kuemper High School in Carroll. He and May Siegner were married July 31, 1976 at Carroll with Magistrate Ron Eich presiding.

Mr. Benholtz worked at Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Carroll from March 1963 to November 1998. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Carroll; five children and their spouses: Patricia and John Guhl of Omaha, Neb., Brenda and Bob Pickett of Omaha, Pamela and Brent Boulden of La Vegas, Nev., Linda Bernholtz of Ames and Brian Bernholtz of Carroll; 12 grandchildren; two brothers and their wives: Donald and Beverly Bernholtz of Carroll and Paul and Joan Bernholtz of Carroll; five sisters and their husbands: Joan and Linus Eischeid of Halbur, Norma and Marvin Willenborg of Omaha, Ruth Schmitz of San Diego, Calif., Jolene and Sully Guarniere of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Janet Pryor of Wichita, Kan; his mother, Hilaria Bernholtz of Carroll; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Siegner, of Vail. Mr. Bernholtz was preceded in death by his father, Alois Bernholtz; a daughter, Lisa Marie Bernholtz; a brother, Louis Bernholtz; a sister, Lois Bernholtz; his father-in-law, James Siegner; and a nephew, Kennth Schmitz.
