Manning- Gerhardt Lamp, 83, of Manning died unexpectedly at his home south of Manning Monday night. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with Rev. Joel Wright of the First Presbyterian Church of Manning officiating. Interment will be in the Manning Cemetery under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning. Military honors will be by the Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22, American Legion, Manning and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3517, Manning.

Mr. Lamp, son of Joachim and Agnes Wiese Lamp, was born on Dec. 4, 1893 in Crawford County, Iowa. In 1901 he moved with his family to Carroll County near Manning. He attended rural schools near his home. He served overseas during World War I. His marriage to Minnie Hansen took place in 1926. He farmed near Manning all his life. For the past 10 to 15 years he was interested in saddle horses and belonged to the Rapid City Boots and Saddle Club, Silver Spurs at Denison and the Manilla Rough Riders. He was a charter member of the Emil Ewoldt Post No.22, American Legion of Manning and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3517 of Manning. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Manning. Surviving are his wife, Minnie; one son, Clarence Lamp of Glendale, Ariz., one daughter, Darlene at home; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, Frank Lamp of Carroll and Herman Lamp of Manning.
