Harold Heithoff
June 9, 1927 - January 10, 2012

Harold Heithoff, 84 of Templeton, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll after a battle with cancer.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. The Celebrant will be Fr. Steven Brodersen. Music will be by Jeanne Kerkhoff and the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir. Mass Servers will be: Mitchell, Sara, and Anna Langel. Lector for the funeral mass will be Harold’s grandson, Kurtis Heithoff. Gift Bearers will be Harold’s granddaughters: Rose Heithoff, Kristy Owens, Kristen Heiser, and Jennifer Morrissey. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Karen Zubrod, John Rohe, and Harold’s granddaughter, Wendy Pondell. Casket Bearers will be Harold’s grandsons: Michael, Patrick, John, Tyler, Trevor, Travis, Trent, August, and Banton Heithoff. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Sunday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. by the Templeton Knights of Columbus and a Christian Wake Service by Sacred Heart Parish at 6 p.m. The casket will be moved to the church at 9 a.m. Monday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Harold’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.

Born on June 9, 1927 near Templeton, Iowa, Harold was the son of John “Barney” and Rose (Schnitter) Heithoff. He spent his entire lifetime in the Templeton area and attended Sacred Heart School. On November 21, 1951 he married Alice Tigges at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. Harold was a grain and livestock farmer and farmed east of Templeton until retiring in 1992. In retirement he enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, gardening, traveling to visit his family and was a talented woodworker. Harold was a member of the Templeton Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton.

Survivors include his children: Linn Heithoff and his wife Gayle of Harvard, IL, Norman Heithoff of Peoria, IL, Rahn (Cathy) Heithoff of Ames, Kim Heithoff and his wife Heather of Oldwick, NJ, Myron Heithoff and his wife Joan of Sussex, WI, Craig Heithoff and his wife Julie of Carroll, Pamela Morrissey and her husband Kevin of Oakland, and Kevin Heithoff of Fridley, MN; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Helene Heithoff of Manning, Helen Heithoff of Coon Rapids, Marie Eicheid of Halbur, Ann Sloup of Omaha, NE, Martha (John) Buelt of Carroll, Susan (Dean) Davis of Glidden, and Raymond (Edna) Tigges of Cedar Rapids, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alice in April 2003; his sisters: Sabina Sporrer and Mildred Schultes; and his brothers: Marcellus, Raymond, Clarus, and Lawrence Heithoff. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register 15 Jan 2012.
