G. H. Mundt was called to Manning by the death of his mother, Mrs. Henry Mundt, which occurred on Saturday, December 6th. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, December 10, at the Lutheran church in Manning.

The following obituary was given, in part at the services:

Anna Ewoldt was born on April 9th, in 1853 in Bentfelt, Probstel, Holstein, Germany. She came to America in 1876, living first in Clinton county and later came to Crawford county. Was united in marriage to Mr Henry Mundt in the year 1868 living on a farm north of Manning in Washington township. Toiling and devoting all of her mother love in rearing a splendid family. Dividing and carrying the joys and sorrows of life with her devoted husband. In 1904 they retired and moved to Manning where they occupied a splendid home, where they would live in comfort and enjoy the fruits of hard toil. During many years of her life the deceased experienced much suffering, but never complained and bore it with Christian fortitude. Had the best of care from her husband and daughter, Amanda. Everything possible that could be done was not left undone to comfort the patient sufferer at all times. During the last weeks of her illness another daughter, Mrs. Augustine Bruns from Waterloo was here to lend a helping hand in the care of the beloved sufferer, until she died peacefully on Saturday, December 6, at 11:00 a.m., at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 27 days.

Those who mourn her loss are: Henry Mundt, the bereaved husband; the children, Gustave Mundt of Glidden, Iowa; Herman Mundt of Grand Island, Nebraska; Ferdinand Mundt of Viola, Wisconsin; Cladius Mundt of Campbell, Nebraska; Mrs. Augusta Bruns of Waterloo, Iowa; John Mundt of Manning; and Mrs. Amanda Ehrichsen of Manning. One brother, Henry Ewoldt of Manning and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Martens of Manning and Mrs. Lena Wiese of Mountain View, Missouri. Fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a large circle of friends.

Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. J M. Ansorge. Interment was made at the Manning cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Lutheran church, a devoted Christian loving wife and mother. A noble woman is laid to rest.
