Waadise Berger, employed on the farm of E. I. Torgerson north of Lanesboro, met death in a peculiar manner yesterday afternoon, and the cause will not be ascertained until after an investigation by the coroner, which takes place this forenoon. The young man was working about the premises when two friends drove up and called him to the road. They had been to Whalen and were pretty much under the influence of liquor, a partially filled bottle of which they offered him.
He drank from the bottle and started for the house and had hardly gone ten feet when he fell, expiring in a short time. Mr. Torgerson vouches for the splendid qualities of the deceased, and in the eight months he had worked on the farm had never known to touch a drop of liquor. He came here from Norway last spring and has no relatives in this country.—Lanesboro Leader.
