Lyle married Virginia Backhaus on September 18, 1976. He cherished his wife and gained three wonderful step-children, whom he loved as his own. His new family was extremely important to him, Lyle and Virginia even took the three children on their honeymoon to Disney.

In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and slow pitch softball. He was quite an accomplished pitcher. Lyle also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. In recent years his greatest joy was watching Fox News and debating with anyone, his strong Republican views and opinions.

In 2005, Lyle and Virginia moved to Bellevue to be close to his grandchildren in Bellevue and Chicago. He enjoyed attending their activities and spending time with them. After moving to Bellevue, they developed many new friendships. They traveled and made many bus trips with Bud and Jan Keil. He will be deeply missed. Lyle, had many important “meetings” with his friends at Richmond’s, where they “solved many of the world’s problems.”
