Feb 25, 1915 - The death of Mr. Jesse Bell occured at his late home on North Clark street last Monday morning at 4:15 from hemmorage of the brain and apoplexy. He was born at Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, away back in slavery time before the civil war. Of his parents and the actual date of his birth little is known.

He was married to Miss Addie Green of Annapolis, Indiana, and came to Carroll some thirty-five years ago, where he has lived ever since. He had one known brother, and two sisters, only one of which is still living, a sister who resides at Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Six children were born to himself and wife, three girls and three boys, of these five still live: Jesse, Fred and Arthur, Zora, and Woody.

The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday & he was laid by his former wife in the local cemetery. The old gentleman had been in poor health and feeble condition for a year or more because of a run-a-way accident that he met with in harvesting a couple of years ago. Jessie Bell was highly respected and is well spoken of by all who knew him. His death removes another one of the old settlers of Carroll county and he will be missed.
