MILFORD HOUSEWIFE DIES AFTER HEART ATTACK THURSDAY
May 12, 1955.........Mrs. Ben Brincks, 66, a Milford resident since 1938, died about 8 p.m. last Thursday night of a heart attack at her home here, as she was washing the supper dishes. She had suffered a previous attack two weeks ago, but had not been ill since then, and was apparently feeling well just before the fatal attack came. Requiem high mass was held at St. Joseph's church Monday morning, May 9, at 9 o'clock with Father Ernst conducting the services. Interment was made in Calvary Cemetery.
Four of Mrs. Brinck's grandsons, Edwin and Elmer Berger, Ray Benneker and Dennis Huelsbeck and two nephews, Lambert Spieker and Clarence Brincks were pallbearers.
Elizabeth Spieker Brincks, the daughter of Anton and Sophia Heineke Spieker, was born June 3, 1888, on a farm in Carroll county, Iowa. She grew to young womanhood there and was united in marriage with Ben Brincks, also of Carroll county, on Sept. 12. 1905 in St. Peter and Paul's Catholic church. Mr. and Mrs. Brincks made their home on a farm in Carroll county where they reared their family and lived until 1938 when they retired and came Milford to make their home. Plans were underway for the Golden Wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Brincks which their children intended to hold in September of this year, had not death changed those plans.
Mr. and Mrs. Brincks became the parents of five children, three daughters and two sons, who are Josephine, Mrs. Joe Berger of Coon Rapids; Loretta, Mrs. Ben Benneker of Carroll, Iowa; Edward of Carroll; Hilda, Mrs. Ed Huelsbeck of Terril and Raymond at home. These children, with the widower, survive, as do 11 grandchildren.
Mrs. Brincks leaves two sisters and four brothers; Mrs. Anna Reicks and Mrs. Theresa Brincks of Carroll, John Spieker and Tony Spieker of Canute, Oklahoma, Joe Spieker of Petersburgh, Neb., and Matt Spieker of Milford. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Mary Reicks, and by her parents.
Mrs. Brincks was a loving wife and mother, who put the welfare of her family and her home and the love of her church above all else. Her grandchildren were a source of joy to her, and she took great pleasure in the simple things of life - her garden and her flowers.
Those attending the last rites, from a distance, included the children, Mrs. Joe Berger of Coon Rapids, Mrs. Ben Benneker of Carroll, Edward of Carroll and Mrs. Ed Huelsbeck of Terril; brothers John of Canute, Okla., Joe and his family of Petersburgh, Neb., and sisters, Mrs. Theresa Brincks and Mrs. Anna Reicks of Carroll and many other relatives and friends from Carroll County.
St. Mary's and St. Elizabeth's circles of St. Joseph church served lunch to all the relatives.
