Lavon Hudson, age 86, of Panora passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the home of her granddaughter in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro with Rev. Sue Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 A.M. on Thursday until the time of service. Music for the service will be by Terry Smith. Casket bearers will be Lavon’s brothers and grandchildren. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
Born on December 31, 1928 on her family’s farm north of Glidden, she was the daughter of Joseph and Reckia (Seeden) Heuton. She attended country school as a girl in Jasper Township. Following her schooling, she worked several jobs before going to work for the Des Moines Post Office. Lavon loved to spend time in Mountain View, Arkansas. Her passions were dancing, music, and her grandchildren.
Lavon is survived by her longtime companion James (Jim) Kerr of Panora IA; a daughter Elaine Johnston and her husband Ken of Lanesboro; four grandchildren: Larry and his wife Danelle of Colorado Springs, CO, Dennis and his wife Nichole Johnston of Phoenix, Jack West and companion Jessica of Oaxaca Mexico and Suzi and husband Mike Miller of Carroll, IA; five-great grandchildren: Amanda Miller, David Spivey, Charlotte & Lilli Boyd and Lauren Johnston; Five great great-grandchildren; four brothers: Marvin Heuton and his wife Norma of Carlisle, IA, Wendall Heuton and his wife Jeanie of Carroll, Ronal Heuton and his wife Janness of Pleasant Hill, IA; and Darrell Heuton and his wife Jean of Pueblo, CO. Five stepdaughters: Victoria Morgan, Becky Harrison, Patti Roskey, Debbi Biegger and Cindi Doyle. Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Doris Cleland, a brother Eugene Heuton, and grandsons Adam Jarnagin, Michael and Brandon Johnston.Des Moines Register
