June 30, 1932 - Carroll Daily Herald - Funeral rites for Peter Comes, who died yesterday, will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock in Ss. Peter and Paul's church. Requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Father Lambert Schenkelberg. Burial will be in Ss, Peter and Paul's cemetery. The pallbearers will be W.B. Peter Comes was born in Metterich, Germany, April 10, 1864, and came to the United States in 1890, settling in Roselle, where he followed the carpenter trade to which he was apprenticed in his native land.

He was united in marriage to Miss Johanna Pittman, Jan. 12, 1894, at Roselle. To this union one son was born, Ben Comes, of 315 North Crawford street. His widow and son are the only survivors, two brothers and one sister having preceded him in death.

Eighteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Comes moved from Roselle to Carroll and the former continued to work at his trade. He retired nine years ago and since that time he and his wife made their home with his son and wife, Mr and Mrs. Ben Comes.

Mr. Comes had been ill for six months, his condition becoming serious May 9 when he entered St. Anthony hospital for treatment. Death was the result of cancer of the larnyx. He was a devout Catholic and died well fortified with the last sacraments of the church.
